Our design solution is to provide an efficient water distribution system which transports adequate amounts of clean water to residential, commercial and industrial areas whilst removing wastewater to a treatment facility to be re-iteratively processed and redistributed.
This project has the possibility of solving numerous problems in the region. Access to clean drinking water would automatically improve other sectors such as, agriculture, hygiene, construction, and the job market. The lack of basic toilet facilities could be an initiative for the plumbing industry, considering that only 5% of the population works in the trades and ~72% are of working age.
This project could be the first step towards autonomy and self-reliance, allowing the people of the region to control their own future.
There is no easy fix to the current issues in Lobitos and Piedritas as these issues have built up over the years and are interconnected.
A single project creating short-term fixes to long-term problems will not be sufficient in increasing tourism, improving public health and the overall standards of living.

Great concept although some of the main issues related with reverse osmosis are not addressed i.e. high energy demand. An opportunity for the use of renewable energy to top up. Even your Spanish pronunciation of Lobitos and Piedritas is decent. Well done
Well done Team Greenwich, this is a great idea and I wish you the best of luck in the finals!
